  In this book, Sen explores the relationship between freedom and development, as freedom is a basic component of development and it’s a key to other aspects. In the Introduction, Sen states that freedom on one hand depends on many determinations: social and economic arrangements, industrialization, technological process, and social modernization. These trainings are focused on nonviolence and peace building, conflict resolution and mediation, gender, development, human rights and community building and leadership. All these have been aimed at imparting the requisite skills so that the people of the Niger Delta can non-violently engage the oil companies and government in dialogues for.

  Exploring the field of peace education, the bulk of the book analyzes and critically evaluates contemporary schools and universities. Providing some successful and notsosuccessful alternative school and university projects and experiments, the book proposes peace and development education as a life process and presents a whole array of nonconventional tools and approaches.
